Rick Jubeck, a veteran of the cable industry, died on October 31, 2017, with services to be held Monday, Nov. 6, in Augusta, Ga. He was 63.
The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. ET at the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son, at 214 Davis Rd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army: 1833 Broad Street, Augusta, Ga., 30904.
Jubeck was a volunteer at The Salvation Army, according to his Facebook profile. Friends and family have been posting remembrances on Jubeck’s page since word of his passing.
Per his Facebook page, Jubeck most recently was director of member and business development at the Florida Coalition for Children.
During his extensive career in the cable industry, Jubeck, was a director of business development communications at Fiber-Span, and was national sales manager at Lemco Tool Corp., and had previously served as a director of Region 9 of the SCTE.
Jubeck was named to the 2001 class of Cable TV Pioneers. He is also on the honor roll for the Loyal Order of the 704, a group founded in 1994 that is named after the revered Jerrold 704 Field Strength Meter.
Around 2005, Jubeck, along with Bill Riker, the former SVP of operations and CTO of The Cable Center and a past president of the SCTE, joined Scotty Group of the Americas to help spearhead a videophone initiative. Prior to that, both were involved with the Freedom Calls Foundation, an organization (previously known as USO Videophone) that used videophone technologies to help U.S. soldiers stationed abroad connect with their families and friends. Linked to those interests, Jubeck had also volunteered to serve as president of USO Videophone, according to his LinkedIn profile.
