Shalom TV On Demand In Alaska Via GCI
Shalom TV continues its expansion across North America, launching in Alaska on General Communications, Inc.
The service is available as part of the cable operator's video on demand platform, which can be accessed on channel 777 via free on demand and selecting Shalom TV.
The rollout in the nation's largest state follows the Jewish cable network's VOD distribution gains in 2010 on systems owned by Cox in New Orleans; Service Electric Cable TV in Allentown, Penn.; WOW! in Chicago, Columbus, Ohio and Evansville, Ind.; and Time Warner Cable in San Antonio, Rio Grande, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Golden Triangle and El Paso.
With those launches reaching some 10 million homes, Shalom TV is now available to some 40 million digital subscribers in 275 communities.
"GCI is committed to continuously enhance our video services. Shalom TV helps us fulfill our wish to not only bring new channels to video on demand, but to offer customers unique and diverse programming," said Bob Ormberg, vice president content and product management, at GCI in a statement.
"We are thrilled to bring Shalom TV to the state of Alaska through GCI," said Mark Golub, president and executive producer of Shalom TV, in a statement. "GCI provides Shalom TV's unique spectrum of programming - everything from our Jewish Film Festival, Israel and interviews with the leading figures on the world Jewish scene to Shabbat TV Kids and Jewish studies."
