Canadian MSO Shaw Cablesystems G.P. has deployed Liberate Technologies'
interactive-TV platform to serve up video-on-demand to digital customers in
Calgary, Alberta.
Calgary-based Shaw is using the 'Liberate TV Platform Compact' software for
the VOD-service rollout. Shaw claims 2.1 million digital customers throughout
its territories.
'Liberate has clearly demonstrated the ability to integrate into our existing
infrastructure, enabling us to deploy a VOD platform on our existing [Motorola
Broadband Communications Sector] `DCT-2000' set-tops,' said Michael D'Avella,
Shaw's senior vice president and planning.
'This is an important component of our VOD services, and we look forward to
working with Liberate on future enhancements,' he added.
The VOD service includes an electronic programming guide with a menu of
available titles and VCR functions such as fast-forward, rewind, pause and
play.
