Showtime Networks Inc. announced Tuesday that the Showtime FamilyZone
multiplex channel has acquired Jake and the Kid, a 26-week series, for
showing as of late this year.
The series -- about a young boy and his mother left alone on the prairie
after his father's death -- is produced by Corus Entertainment Inc.'s Nelvana
unit. It will be making its U.S. debut on Showtime FamilyZone.
Other recent multiplex acquisitions include Bob and Margaret for
Showtime Women. That series was also produced by Nelvana.
