Signal Leakage Costs La. Op a Cool $133K

GRAND ISLE, LA.-Tiny Callais Cablevision here was hit with a whopping $133,000 fine by the Federal Communications Commission for violating signal-leakage rules.

The commission said the system, which serves about 12,000 subscribers, "showed almost a complete disregard for the rules designed to protect air traffic safety."

Executive Corey Callais did not return calls for comment. The company has until Feb. 19 to appeal the fine.
