Sky Sets Pricing and Packaging for November Netflix Integration
After announcing a deal to natively integrate Netflix into its video operating systems in March, European pay TV operator Sky has outlined the pricing and packaging for the SVOD service’s debut in its UK footprint, starting in November.
Sky, which of course, is currently an acquisition target for both Comcast and Disney, is offering several different ways for users to connect to the SVOD service.

Those who have an existing Netflix account can simply authenticate through the Sky app. These users won’t enjoy the benefits of Sky’s larger integration of Netflix into its UI, but at least these users won’t have to toggle between their pay TV set-top and an OTT device to watch Netflix.
However, for an additional £10 per month (around $13.20)—on top of their incumbent Sky TV package (which starts out at £20 per month)—users can bolt on Ultimate On Demand. This package includes the basic non-4K, two-simultaneous-streams Netflix service, along with Sky Q Box Sets, a collection of more than 400 UK and U.S. TV series.
Super users, meanwhile, can opt for the Sky Q Experience, which bolts on an additional £12-per-month fee—on top of the £20 Sky Q bill and £10 Ultimate On Demand Charge—and delivers the new Sky Q five-tuner, 2 TB DVR set-top, along with Ultra HD content.
This content includes Netflix Premium, which delivers 4K programming and four simultaneous streams.

The UK launch of Netflix is set to be followed by debuts on Sky Q in Germany, Austria and Italy.
The integration will help Sky compete with Virgin Media, which offers integrated access to Netflix on its TiVo-powered offerings, including the new 4K-capable V6 platform, as well as Virgin Media owner, Liberty Global, which has a deal in place to tie in Netflix across all its set-top boxes.
