Spike TV Hunts for Monster Sharks
Spike TV is competing in the same waters as Discovery Channel and its famed Shark Week, saying Wednesday that it’ll run The Great Hunt For: Monster Sharks on Sept. 3.
The Labor Day program, a one-hour special, focuses on the 2007 Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tournament.
More than 200 boats and 1,000 big game fishermen will compete in the event, which takes place in the water off of Martha’s Vineyard.
Featured anglers include captain Damon Sacco from Pocasset, Mass., whose boat, Castafari, caught a nearly 1200 lb. tiger shark at the 2005 Tournament after a three-hour fight. But Sacco’s vessel arrived at the dock six minutes late, so the fish he killed didn’t count for the tournament.
