SRI, Knowledge Networks Team Up

published Knowledge Networks and Statistical Research Inc. announced a strategic
alliance Tuesday whereby SRI's staff will become the former's media-research
group. The company is being renamed Knowledge Networks/Statistical Research.
Menlo Park, Calif.-based Knowledge was formed in 1998, while SRI has been
around for more than 30 years.
SRI -- best known for the 'RADAR' network-radio ratings reports -- tried in
vain to mount Systems for Measuring and Reporting Television (SMART), a
challenge to Nielsen Media Research's national television-ratings service. SMART
was shut down in 1999.
