Sci Fi Channel announced Wednesday that it has ordered an eighth season of
Stargate SG-1 from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.
SG-1 will become the second-longest-running science-fiction drama on
American television, exceeding every Star Trek series and second only to
The X-Files.
Currently in production on its seventh season, season eight of SG-1 is
slated to premiere during the summer of 2004.
Since the show joined Sci Fi’s lineup in June 2002, it has become the
network’s highest-rated original series, averaging a 1.7 rating and 1.353
million households for new episodes to date, according to Nielsen Media
Research.
