Stephen John Named CEO of Westell
Westell Technologies, a maker of wireless infrastructure products, said its board has tapped Alfred (Stephen) John as president and CEO, effective May 21.
John succeeds interim president and CEO Kirk Brannock, who will continue as chairman of the board.
John most recently was EVP of technology and operations of Rise Broadband, a provider for fixed wireless services. Prior to that, he was president and chief revenue officer of UNSi Inc., an internet service provider focused on businesses.

He also served as president and CEO of Cheetah Technologies, a test and measurement equipment maker acquired by Alpha Technologies in 2014, and was an exec at American Broadband and at Charter Communications.
“Following an extensive review of candidates, it was clear that Stephen’s successful track record and relationships within the industry and service-provider community make him an ideal choice to lead Westell as we work to expand and profitably grow the business,” Brannock said, in a statement.
“It’s a time of tremendous opportunity in the industry, and I am excited to be taking on this new role,” added John. “With Westell’s strong brand and reputation for high-quality solutions, great customer relationships, and solid financial position and operating leverage in the business model, we expect to drive increased shareholder value.”
