-Excite@Home Corp. and
Student Advantage Inc., a "commerce connection" for college students, have agreed to jointly market Excite@Home's broadband data services. The companies said they will offer cable modem services within Excite@Home's cable footprint, and provide digital-subscriber line in other areas.
As part of the deal, Excite@Home took a $4 million, minority stake in Student Advantage, and has an option to buy 1 million additional shares at $5 apiece.
Excite@Home also agreed to also promote and distribute Student Advantage content and services such as its proprietary ring of "FANS only" intercollegiate athletic sites. Student Advantage also has relationships with about 50 national retailers and businesses, including AT&T Corp., Staples and Tower Records.
