Sundance Walks Down ‘Abbey Road’ Again

Sundance Channel has scored the rights to the second season of music show Live From Abbey Road from FremantleMedia Enterprises.

The second season profiles musicians rehearsing and performing at the iconic London studios in a fly-on-the-wall style. Artists confirmed to date: Grammy-nominated Herbie Hancock, The Stereophonics, James Blunt and Colbie Callait. The season is expected to bow in June.

“Music programming is enormously popular with the Sundance Channel audience.  The beauty of Live From Abbey Road, in addition to the deep and storied history of the studio, is that it is so well made and simply and directly showcases the musicians at their best,” said Laura Michalchyshyn, Sundance Channel EVP and general manager of programming and acquisitions, in a statement. “This feeling of direct connection to the music and the artists is very appealing to our viewers “

For its part, FremantleMedia Enterprises has grabbed a representation deal for both the second and third seasons of Live From Abbey Road, whose rookie outing was sold to 145 territories.

The UK’s Channel 4 and More4 are also on board to air the show’s second season in June.
