SundanceTV has greenlit for a July premiere a new original non-fiction series, The Approval Matrix, inspired by the New York magazine pop-culture feature. The six-episode series will be hosted by comedian Neal Brennan (Chappelle’s Show) and executive produced by Rory Albanese (The Daily Show) and Ish Entertainment’s Michael Hirschorn (Best Week Ever). Each week, Brennan and a panel comprised of entertainment insiders, celebrities and critics will debate controversial entertainment news items.
Hirschorn and New York editor in chief Adam Moss had tried a weekly show based on "The Approval Matrix" before; the pilot aired as a special on Bravo in 2011.
SundanceTV president Sarah Barnett said in a release: “‘The Approval Matrix’ lives at the center of pop culture in a smart and funny way. Using the provocative axis of brilliant vs. despicable, our commentators will be hilarious, shockingly candid, impassioned and leave the viewer better informed and wildly entertained.”
