The U.S. Supreme Court will determine whether states can bar municipalities
from moving into telecommunications businesses.
Attorneys for Missouri and the Federal Communications Commission asked the
high court to sort out conflicting rulings from the U.S. Court of Appeals for
the Eighth Circuit and the District of Columbia Circuit Court.
At issue is the legal definition of the word "any" in the Cable Act, which
forbids regulation that constitutes a barrier to entry to 'any
entity."
