Swedish ComHem Expands SDU Business
Swedish pay TV and broadband provider ComHem sad it has agreed to purchase Boxer-TV Access, the digital terrestrial television arm of Terracom Boxer Group, for about $200 million.
Boxer-TV Access currently has about 500,000 subscribers in Sweden, mostly in single dwelling units, a segment that ComHem has been expanding in aggressively. ComHem recently conducted SDU trials of its service and has said it expects to reach an additional 800,000 SDU homes via fiber in the coming years.
Boxer-TV Access subscribers will gain access to broadband service via fiber as part of the deal.
The transaction is conditional on the approval of the government of Sweden and the Swedish Competition Authority.
