TBS will look to build its base of original comedies around My Boys, The Bill EngvallShow and Frank TV.
The "very funny" network, which will bring back the aforementioned shows for new seasons, has a number of primetime and late-night projects in various stages of development. A number of these will no doubt be discussed at the May 14 upfront presentation that will be held in conjunction with TNT and TruTV.
Primetime projects in development include: a sitcom adaptation of Jane Ganahl’s bestselling memoir Naked on the Page: The Misadventures of My Unmarried Midlife, about one woman’s rollercoaster ride through middle age; an untitled half-hour from
Dave Caplan (The Drew Carey Show), which follows the life of a woman who manages to get through the day with surprisingly good humor despite a husband that walked out on her and left two kids and a struggling lumberyard; and an untitled Brian Hargrove (Titus) series about a low-level judge and her husband, who happens to be a prosecuting attorney.
For late night, TBS, which has also scored with Tyler Perry's House of Payne, has ordered pilot presentations of the animated series Stay Tooned (working title) and a new edition of the classic game show, Match Game
TBS is also working on late-night comedies with Robert Townsend, The Jim Henson Co. and Mark Wolper.
