Marlo Thomas will star in Lifetime Original Movie Deceit, Lifetime Television announced Wednesday.
Emmy Award- and Golden Globe Award-winner Thomas (Two Against Time, Nobody’s Child) will portray Ellen McCarthy, who returns to her Long Island, N.Y., home with her children following the disappearance of her husband, Grove, who vanished while sailing during a rainstorm off Long Island Sound.
When Grove’s body is eventually found, it is discovered that he was murdered, and Ellen becomes the prime suspect.
Deceit is being produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Film Factory. The executive producers are Thomas and John Sacret Young.
The film is a remake of British Broadcasting Corp. miniseries Deceit, written by Jacqueline Holborough, which was based on the novel of the same name by Clare Francis.
