Time Warner Cable Adds MLB Network to Former Insight Systems
Time Warner Cable is adding MLB Network to the systems it recently acquired from Insight Communications in time for Opening Day of the 2012 season.
The April 4 launches in the former Insight systems serving Evansville, Ind.; Louisville, Covington, Lexington, and Bowling Green, Ky.; and Columbus, Ohio., add some 670,000 subscribers to MLB Network's roster, which now stands at around 69 million, the most of any the four professional league-owned networks in the U.S.
Deal terms were not disclosed, but the launches encompass standard- and high-definition channels positions on Time Warner Cable's digital standard tier.
Additionally, Time Warner Cable will add the out-of-market MLB Extra Innings package for Insight customers in the four aforementioned markets in Kentucky, as well as Evansville. First pitch on the PPV package's availability: April 17.
The nation's second-largest cable operator closed its $3 billion purchase of Insight on Feb. 29.
