Time Warners Collins Named NCTA Chairman

published Washington-Joseph J. Collins, chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable, was named chairman of the board of the National Cable Television Association.
AT & T Corp. chairman and CEO C. Michael Armstrong-an NCTA board and executive-committee member since Nov. 16-stepped down and designated Daniel E. Somers, president and CEO of AT & T Broadband, as his replacement.
Other NCTA executive-committee appointments include: Michael S. Willner, president of Insight Communications Co. Inc., as vice chairman; Jerald L. Kent, president and CEO of Charter Communications Inc., as secretary; and John J. Rigas, chairman of Adelphia Communications Corp., as treasurer.
