NEW ORLEANS - TiVo today officially unveiled what had become the worst kept secret in the consumer technology world, its Edge DVR, which it said is now available.
And in more surprising news, the San Jose, Calif. technology company also announced TiVo+, a new video network for exclusively for TiVo customers that delivers live-streamed channels and thousands of VOD titles in what TiVo calls “an app-free environment.”

Available in both direct-to-consumer over-the-the-air and cable customer models, the CommScope-manufactured Edge is an upgrade over TiVo’s Bolt DVR, which was introduced back in 2015. The Edge is a six-tuner, 4K-capable device that includes Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Vision HDR.
The TiVo Edge for antenna is available now for $349.99 and requires a service plan of $6.99 a month, $69.99 annually or a one-time all-in plan for $249.99. TiVo Edge for cable is available for $399.99 and requires a service plan of $14.99 monthly, $149.99 annually or a one-time all-in plan for $549.99.
As for TiVo+, the vendor said it has partnered with Xumo, Jukin Media and other top video publishers to make channels like TMZ, Outside TV+, PowerNation, FailArmy Unsolved Mysteries, Hells Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Food52 and Ameba available at launch.
The platform, TiVo said, is “coming soon.”
