TNN Sets Star Trek Marathons
Trekkies may want to kick off their space boots and tune in TNN: The National
Network this Labor Day.
Viacom Inc.'s general-entertainment network will serve up a
13-and-one-half-hour Star Trek movie marathon Sept. 3. The stunt begins
with Star Trek: The Motion Picture at 10 a.m., the network announced
Monday.
TNN's Labor Day programming ploy is a prelude to another 'Trek-A-Thon,' as
the network will ramp up for its stripping of Star Trek: The Next
Generation in October. According to a TNN spokeswoman, the network will air
77 episodes of that series, three movies and a documentary tied to Star
Trek as an enduring pop-cultural icon from Oct. 1 through 5.
'Star Trek Next Generation on TNN: A Five-Day Mission' begins with a trio of
films Oct. 1, before leading into the documentary, America Loves Star
Trek.
After taking a two-hour break for cable's top-rated Raw Is War World
Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. programming from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., TNN
will then screen 77 episodes, ranging across all seven Next Generation
seasons, through that Friday.
The skein then beams into its regular time slot, Mondays through Fridays at 8
p.m., Oct. 8.
