TraceSpan Launches DOCSIS 3.0 Multilayer Analyzer
TraceSpan Communications, an Israeli provider of broadband analysis and monitoring tools, announced the DOCSIS Xpert 5300, a passive multilayer real-time analyzer for DOCSIS 3.0 equipment and networks.
The company will show off the DOCSIS Xpert analyzer at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, set to run Nov. 15-17 in Atlanta.
The protocol analyzer provides a view of network topology and analysis of DOCSIS product performance, standard compliance and interoperability. DOCSIS Xpert 5300 is designed for R&D, laboratory and field application engineers engaged in the development, testing, performance analysis and deployment of DOCSIS solutions. According to TraceSpace, the analyzer captures signals without using a DOCSIS chipset and has no effect on the data transfer between the CMTS and cable modems.
In addition to DOCSIS 3.0 PHY and MAC layer analysis from multiple upstream and downstream bonded channels, DOCSIS Xpert 5300 can peer into higher-layer traffic, including Ethernet, network-layer protocols such as IPv4 and IPv6, and application-layer protocols such as HTTP.
"The cable industry has long been waiting for a multilayer analysis solution for DOCSIS 3.0, and TraceSpan has addressed this need by leveraging its rich world-recognized telecom industry experience," TraceSpan founder CEO Hanan Herzberg said in a statement.
The company said DOCSIS Xpert is already being evaluated by a number of MSOs and manufacturers, but didn't identify them. The analyzer supports both DOCSIS 3.0 and EuroDOCSIS 3.0 as well as the legacy DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0.
TraceSpan Communications, based in Ra'anana, Israel, develops and manufactures innovative broadband testing and monitoring solutions for cable, DSL and fiber networks.
