TruTV Lifts Ronca To VP Of Development
TruTV has promoted Marissa Ronca to vice president of development.
Ronca, who had been serving as the Turner network's senior director of development, has oversight for all aspects of the channel's new program development slate. She is based in New York and reports to Darren Campo, senior vice president of programming, production and development for truTV.
She joined truTV in 2007 and has focused on programming to expand truTV's brand, working on such projects as Rehab: Party at the Hard Rock Hotel, All Worked Up and the upcoming series Hardcore Pawn and Ma's Roadhouse.
Before joining truTV, Ronca was director of development at TLC and Discovery Home Channel, where she was responsible for cultivating original programming for daytime and primetime series and specials, including Little People, Big World, LA Ink and Say Yes to the Dress. She is also credited with developing TLC's first broadband series, Makeover Train.
Ronca began her career with Discovery Communications Inc. in 2001. She worked in production and development for Discovery Onboard/VOD and Discovery Networks International. In 2005, Ronca joined Brainbox Productions, an independent production company, where she developed, wrote and produced original programming for such networks as HGTV, Style, Discovery, and Court TV, the predecessor to truTV.
Ronca's documentary film work includes serving as executive producer on the feature Crazy Sexy Cancer. She also produced the 2006 independent scripted feature film The Guatemalan Handshake.
