Turner Taps a Content Chief
Los Angeles— Michael Wright now has classic films on his mind.
Turner Entertainment Networks president Steve Koonin last week named Wright senior vice president of the newly organized and renamed Content Creation Group, extending his responsibilities to new fare centered around Turner Classic Movies.
In his new role, Wright will continue to have responsibilities for all original programming for TNT and TBS, including digital extensions, but has added oversight for all original fare on Turner Classic Movies, including its original documentaries and specials, as well as a push into the production of series tied to its classic-movie pedigree.
Day-to-day operations of the TCM original-programming team will continue to be handled by vice president of program production Tom Brown, who now reports to Wright. Tom Karsch, the network’s former executive vice president and general manager, stepped down in March.
Digitally, Wright — who is based here — will focus his attention on such properties as sponsored microseries and Web series that complement TNT’s, TBS’ and TCM’s linear programming lineups.
