TV Guide Sets Long-Form Shows
TV Guide Channel has announced its first long-form entertainment programs for
the 2001-2002 season, including its first half-hour show.
During its New York upfront presentation for advertisers Tuesday evening, TV
Guide Television Group and TV Guide Networks president Pam McKissick said
What's On, TV Guide Channel's first half-hour show, will be a daily guide
to primetime. Each show will close with a 'Pick of the Night' by TV Guide
magazine editor Mark Schwed. What's On will bow this summer.
In addition, the channel will unveil four 15-minute programs in the new
season -- a move designed to build on its recent Nielsen Media Research ratings
momentum.
The four new shows will be The Screening Room, during which hosts
Debbie Matenopoulos and Ken Taylor will talk about movies in theaters, on
television and on pay-per-view; TV GuideBest Bets, suggesting
what to watch in family programming, sports and PPV; Hollywood Insider,
which will cover 'inside news' in entertainment; and Music
News.
