TV5 Monde Nets French Open Deal With Tennis Channel
TV5 Monde USA will provide viewers with daily coverage from Roland Garros next week.
The premium French-language service has reached a sub-licensing deal with Tennis Channel for French language broadcast rights in the States to the 2009 French Open.
Under the deal, terms of which were not disclosed, TV5 Monde will air four hours of coverage, encompassing two matches, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (ET), from May 24 through June 4.
The agreement marks the first time TV5 Monde will provide coverage of the Grand Slam event to its U.S. audience on a daily basis.
Tennis Channel, which is the cable rights-holder to the event, also extends rights to ESPN2 for the famed red clay tournament from Paris. NBC is the tourneny's broadcast partner.
