TVGateway Eyeing Diva's IPG
TVGateway LLC is in talks with Diva Systems Corp. to buy the video-on-demand
company's interactive programming guide, according to sources in the IPG
industry.
TVGateway -- which is owned by a consortium of four MSOs and middleware
provider WorldGate Communications Inc. -- is said to have its eyes on Diva's
IPG-patent portfolio.
Sources said other guide companies have examined Diva's IPG but found no
value in buying it because the patents have not been issued yet.
The deal would not involve the navigational tools to use Diva's VOD
system.
There was no word on how close the two sides are and when they might complete
a deal.
'We are continuing to look at all different platforms and players out there,'
TVGateway general manager Peter Mondics said Friday.
Diva said it does not comment on 'speculation.'
