U-Verse Builds International TV Base

AT&T will add international programming to U-verse TV in a deal with satellite operator SES Americom, which is providing unspecified content to the telephone company via its IP-Prime distribution services.

SES Americom will also provide international programming for AT&T's broadband and wireless platforms. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“By securing additional international programming from IP-Prime, we are reaffirming our commitment to meeting the diverse needs and interests of our growing subscriber base," AT&T senior vice president of programming Rob Thun said, in announcing the deal.

Last month AT&T announced new Filipino, South Asian and Vietnamese programming packages. The telco also offers TV Japan for $25 per month and Paquete Español, a package of more than 20 Spanish-language channels, for $10 per month.

AT&T did not specify what channels SES Americom will provide to U-verse TV customers. In-language and ethnic programming supplied by SES Americom includes: Bandamax, KTN Television Korea 24, Canal Sur, De Pelicula, La Familia Cosmovision, Ritmoson Latino and Telehit.
