Univision, Zune Debut Music Download Service

Univision Online and Zune, Microsoft’s music and entertainment service, are launching a music download service.

Called Baja Zune Musica en Univision.com, the service will be available through the Spanish-language media giant’s Web site.

Through the relationship, terms of which were not disclosed, Microsoft will be the exclusive integrated online music download and subscription provider on Univision.com in the U.S., including Puerto Rico.

The comprehensive service will offer Zune music charts, artist profiles and access to more than 4 million songs through the online music store called Zune Marketplace, which for a limited time will feature a 50%-off sale on select Latin artists and albums.

“By offering Zune’s music catalog and cutting-edge features, we are delivering a comprehensive online music subscription platform experience via the most-visited Spanish-language Web site in the U.S.," said Cesar Conde, executive vice president and chief strategy officer, Unvision Communications Inc., in a statement.

Added Chris Stephenson, general manager of global marketing for the entertainment business at Microsoft: "We are thrilled to be partnering with Univision Online to further deepen our connections with the U.S. Hispanic community. With this partnership we are taking user engagement to a whole new level, making it even easier for Latino listeners to connect to the music they love, and discover new music and artists through Baja Zune Musica.”
