U.S. Open Dominates TV Social Media
ESPN’s coverage of the Venus Williams vs. Serena Williams U.S. Open quarterfinals match drew the most tweets of all sports and entertainment shows last night.
The match, in which Serena defeated Venus to continue her quest to win a calendar-year Grand Slam, drew more than 230,000 tweets reaching 6 million unique Twitter users, according to Nielsen. ESPN2’s United States vs. Brazil soccer game followed behind with 81,000 tweets reaching 2.3 million Twitter users.
CBS’s premiere of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was the most social entertainment show of the night, generating 64,000 Tweets and reaching 2 million people using Twitter, said Nielsen.
