Vanguard Awards Distinguished Leadership, Mary Meduski
The NCTA presents its highest honor, the Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership, to one man and one woman who have consistently demonstrated the highest level of industry leadership. This year’s female honoree is Mary Meduski, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Suddenlink Communications.
Meduski brought more than 25 years of financial experience in the media and telecommunications industries with her when she joined Suddenlink in July 2006. She was named to company’s board of directors in November 2012. As CFO, she helps set Suddenlink’s strategic direction, raises capital to support the company’s growth objectives, and oversees its accounting, tax, treasury, financial reporting, risk management, programming and information technology functions. She plays a key role in corporate development and maintains relationships with the financial community, including the company’s investors, lenders and advisers.
Before joining Suddenlink, Meduski served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of AAT Communications Corp., which, at the time, was the largest privately owned wireless tower company in the United States. Prior to joining AAT, Meduski was a managing director in the media and communications investment banking groups of TD Securities and BankBoston Securities.
Meduski recently completed her two-year term as chair of the national board of Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) and now serves as immediate past chair and executive committee member. She is also a member of the WICT national board’s finance, governance and leadership development committees. Multichannel News named Meduski a Wonder Woman in 2012.
Meduski holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Cornell University and currently serves on the President’s Council of Cornell Women and the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council. She holds an MBA from Boston University, where she graduated first in her class. She and her husband have two children.
Fun Fact:
Before entering the world of cable finance, Meduski learned about the benefits of fiber in her first career as a nutritionist.
