Verizon FiOS TV Enters Florida
Verizon Communications Inc. will light up its third video market Tuesday in Temple Terrace, Fla.
The 21,000-population community, which is totally surrounded by the city of Tampa in Hillsborough County, becomes the first Florida community to offer Verizon FiOS TV. The service is not universally available yet, however. Only 25% of the city can receive service today, according to spokesman Bob Elek. Verizon is publicizing an 800 number residents can call to order service and determine whether they are in an activated area.
The telco's lead offer is 180 channels of video and music for $39.95 per month. In total, 330 digital channels are offered in Temple Terrace, where Verizon will compete with Bright House Networks. Verizon will also offer 1,640 video-on-demand titles, a suite that will grow to 1,800 by year's end, according to the telco.
Verizon's first video market in Keller, Texas, was activated Sept. 22. The second -- Herndon, Va. -- went live in late November.
