Verizon Communications was approved for four video franchises to offer its Verizon FiOS TV service in New York last week, along with one in Massachusetts.
The telco received franchises in the Long Island communities of Farmingdale, Valley Stream and the Town of Huntington, as well as the Westchester County village of Irvington.
Verizon now has 19 franchises in the state.
Verizon also launched FiOS TV in another Long Island community last week: the village of Mineola.
And the Board of Selectmen in Nahant, Mass., unanimously approved a video franchise for the regional Bell operating company Thursday night.
In other Verizon news, the New York Public Service Commission confirmed the telco’s video franchises in the Long Island village of East Rockaway and in the Westchester County community of Greenburgh, which were granted Sept. 18 and 27, respectively.
