VH1 Don't Stop with Hip Hop
VH1 is set to debut five-part documentary And You Don't Stop: 30 Years of Hip Hop Oct. 4.
And You Don't Stop will air Monday, Oct. 4-Friday, Oct. 8, from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. (EST/PST) each night.
Among those interviewed are Ice-T, OutKast, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Rick Rubin, Chuck D, the Reverend Run, Fab 5 Freddie, Debbie Harry, DMC, the Beastie Boys, Nas, Sylvia Robinson, Jimmy Iovine, Lyor Cohen, the Neptunes, the Roots, Mary J. Blige, MC Lyte, Nelson George, Cheo Coker, Danyel Smith, Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, KRS-One and Ice Cube.
VH1 will also premiere VH1 News Presents: Freestyle Thursday, Oct. 7 at 11 p.m. The special “chronicles freestyle from its origins in cafes to the individuals who pioneered the art form,” the network said.
The network’s salute to the musical genre will conclude with the VH1 Hip Hop Honors, Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m.
DJ Kool Herc, DJ Hollywood, KRS-One, Public Enemy, Rock Steady Crew, Run DMC, Sugarhill Gang, Tupac Shakur and The Graffiti Movement will be recognized at the event, which will be taped Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.
Vivica A. Fox and Emmy Award-nominated Mos Def will host VH1 Hip Hop Honors, and performers and presenters will include Ice T, Kid Rock, Fat Joe, MC Hammer, Grandmaster Flash, Nas, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Sugarhill Gang, Chic and Afeni Shakur.
