VH1 announced late Friday that it has settled its litigation with Liza
Minnelli and her eccentric husband, David Gest.
Gest sued VH1 in December 2002 after the network killed Liza &
David -- a reality show that was supposed to be shot at Minnelli’s Manhattan
apartment. Gest and Minnelli separated in August.
VH1 filed a $23 million counterclaim alleging that Gest had made it
impossible for the network to shoot the show. Gest reportedly once ordered a
show crew member to stick her head in an oven to see if it was clean, and he
wouldn’t allow crew members to drink bottled water or sit on furniture in the
apartment.
VH1, Gest and Minelli issued a joint statement Friday saying that they had
"amicably resolved their differences and withdrawn their respective
lawsuits."
