Video Streaming Blossoms in 2000
By MCN Staff
published SAN DIEGO -Video streaming over the Internet grew 215 percent in 2000 to more than 900 million total streams accessed, a new DFC Intelligence
report revealed.
Those figures included broadband streams, which made up almost 29 percent of the total streams accessed, the research firm said. The report also estimated that as much as 15 percent of all available streaming inventory used some form of in-stream advertising.
Report author Paul Palumbo attributed the jump in streaming to more available bandwidth and better promotional activities surrounding the 2000 elections and shows such as Survivor.
