Vonage Holdings is seeking to counteract the potential negative impact from Verizon Communications’ patent litigation against it by launching national grassroots communications campaign Free to Compete.
The voice-over-Internet-protocol provider said it aims to raise awareness of the importance of consumer choice.
The campaign consists of a series of advertisements in leading newspapers across the country beginning Wednesday; letters to Vonage's customers; and a Web site designed to educate and mobilize consumers about the importance of choice in the telecommunications industry, which includes “facts about the pending patent litigation, a petition to protect consumers' right to choose phone-service providers and a feature allowing visitors to tell Verizon what they think about the company's tactics,” Vonage said.
