Insight Communications Co. Inc. CEO Michael Willner is expected to testify on
the digital-television transition before the Senate Commerce Committee
Thursday.
Committee chairman Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) called the hearing after the
Federal Communications Commission ruled last month that local TV stations are
not entitled to mandatory cable carriage of their analog- and digital-TV
signals.
According to a cable-industry source, Willner agreed to represent the cable
industry on a panel that is expected to include representatives from the
National Association of Broadcasters and the Consumer Federation of
America.
