Wings' 'Centennial of Flight' to Take Off
Discovery Wings Channel will launch one year of special programming tied to
the "Centennial of Flight" Dec. 16, Discovery Networks U.S. executive vice
president of affiliate sales and marketing Bill Goodwyn announced Wednesday.
The digi-net's programming initiative will culminate Dec. 17, 2003, with the
100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' first flight at Kitty Hawk, he
said.
The Centennial of Flight programming will air on Wings weekdays at 8 p.m.,
with each quarter of 2003 due to concentrate on a specific aviation theme.
Early specials will include Lighter Than Air: First to Fly Dec. 16;
Frontiers of Flight: Powered Flight Dec. 17; Four Years of
Thunder, focusing on World War I, Feb. 3 through 6; and History of
Choppers March 17 through 19.
