Wonder Woman 2007 Winners
The editors of Multichannel News announced their selections for the 2007 class of Wonder Women, recognizing outstanding contributors to the growth of the industry and companies they work in.
The members of the ninth class were: Colleen Abdoulah, CEO, WideOpenWest; Cathy Avgiris, senior vice president and general manager, voice services, Comcast; Debby Beece, president, programming and marketing, Oxygen Media; Frances Berwick, executive VP, programming and production, Bravo; Nancy Dubuc, senior VP, nonfiction and alternative programming, A&E Network; Michele Ganeless, executive VP and GM, Comedy Central; Jill Luckett, senior VP, program-network policy, National Cable & Telecommunications Association; Linda McMahon, CEO, World Wrestling Entertainment; Marilyn O’Connell, senior VP, video solutions, Verizon Communications; and Eloise Schmitz, senior VP, strategic planning, Charter Communications.
These women were profiled in the Jan. 29, 2007, issue of Multichannel News and feted at an awards lunch March 6 at the New York Hilton.
Initiated in 1999, the Wonder Women program recognizes outstanding women making creative and financial contributions to the cable and telecommunications industries.
“The women honored here are the women that this industry counts on the most,”' MCN editor in chief Tom Steinert-Threlkeld said. “The multichannel-video and communications business would not have the programming, creativity, marketing or even technical innovation that has made it one of the most vibrant parts of the economy without their leadership.”
