World Cup: Univision Nets 7.1M with Mexico-Croatia
With El Tri securing passage to the round of 16, Univision's coverage of Mexico's 3-1 win over Croatia delivered the largest Group Stage audience in the programmer's history.
The June 24 simulcast on Univision and Univision Deportes Network averaged 7.1 million viewers, according to Nielsen data. That surpassed the previous record of 6.8 million Group A viewers who saw Mexico fight to a scoreless draw with 2014 World Cup host Brazil on June 17.
The Tuesday afternoon telecast, which reached 12.6 million watchers in total, included 3.9 million persons 18 to 49.
Through 36 matches, officials say Univision Deportes' coverage of the 2014 World Cup is pacing ahead of its 2010 World Cup presentation by 46% among total viewers and 33% among persons 18 to 49.
