World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. will use MarkMonitor Inc.’s “Auction Monitoring” technology to combat the online sale of counterfeit goods.
The vendor said Auction Monitoring will monitor the sale of WWE-branded goods on eBay Inc. (www.ebay.com) and automate requests to terminate counterfeit and other unauthorized auctions.
“The trademark offenses are flagrant,” WWE associate counsel of intellectual property Stacy Papachristos said in a prepared statement. “I frequently identify counterfeiters on eBay selling illegal copies of our programming, home-video releases and counterfeit clothing.”
