Yahoo Exec Karin Gilford Seen Headed To Comcast

Yahoo Entertainment general manager Karin Gilford has left to join Comcast, according to reports.

Gilford’s role at Yahoo was to oversee programming, content and overall business strategies for Yahoo Entertainment’s consumer Web sites, including Yahoo Movies, Yahoo Television and Yahoo Celebrity, according to the site TechCrunch.com, which reported the move on Monday.

A Yahoo vice president, she was based in Santa Monica, Calif. A profile of Gilford can be found here.

Comcast has not yet confirmed the hire to Multichannel News, but her move also was reported by PaidContent.org today. Her role at Comcast was not reported by either site. Later Tuesday, a Comcast spokeswoman said the company declined comment.

Among other intersections with cable programming, Gilford and Yahoo a year ago worked with MTV to create a user-generated content category—five-minute comedic spoofs of feature films—as part of the MTV Movie Awards.

The winner was Andy Signore’s United 300, in which Spartans battle airline hijackers.
