Discovery Communications president and CEO David Zaslav will step down from TiVo's board in August, after serving as a director with the DVR maker for more than nine years.
Zaslav on Monday informed TiVo of his intent to not stand for re-election at the end of his term, which expires at the company's 2010 annual shareholders meeting, TiVo disclosed in an 8-K filing Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The annual shareholders meeting is scheduled for August 4.
Discovery declined to comment.
Zaslav has served on TiVo's board since September 2000. From October 1999 to May 2006, he was executive vice president of NBC and president of NBC Cable, whose properties included CNBC, MSNBC and Valuevision. He joined Discovery in January 2007.
Also in the 8-K, TiVo referred to the ruling last week by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit granting a request by Dish Network and EchoStar to have the full court review a previous ruling in TiVo's years-long patent litigation against the satellite TV operator.
That vacated the March ruling by the appeals court affirming the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas' finding of contempt of the permanent injunction against Dish/EchoStar that would have required the satellite company to disable millions of DVRs.
