Interactive TV software developer Zodiac Interactive and Alticast, a provider of embedded software for set-tops, announced they will bundle the Zodiac PowerUp development framework with Alticast's AltiCaptor middleware for tru2way-enabled set-tops.
The solution is designed to let MSOs deliver interactive services and applications, including advanced services such as TV widgets that provide click-to-call, multi-player games, photo sharing, weather, traffic and local news. Zodiac's PowerUp Framework also supports CableLabs' Enhanced Binary Interface Format (EBIF), video-on-demand applications and advanced user-interface design.
The two companies said their first joint effort will be to deliver a combined solution to power Cisco/Scientific-Atlanta tru2way set-top boxes.
