Will oversee NewsNation, Washington coverage

Mike Viqueira was named Washington, D.C., bureau chief for Nexstar Media’s WGN America, which is being rebranded as NewsNation and will feature five hours of national news each weekday.

Nexstar Media Group said it will rebrand its WGN America cable channel as NewsNation.

Nexstar Media Group said it reached a multi-year agreement with streaming service Vidgo to carry Nexstar’s cable network WGN America.

Ashleigh Banfield, currently seen on Court TV, will be starting a new 10 p.m. ET news talk show on WGN America starting March 1.

It is the third WGN America distribution deal the company has struck in December, said Nexstar, totaling seven million new subs by January of next year.

Nexstar Media Group said it has reached a deal with fuboTV, which will distribute Nexstar’s WGN America channel on its streaming platform.

Nexstar Media Group’s cable channel WGN America expanded its distribution base by signing its first carriage agreement with Google’s YouTube TV.
